Jessica + Simon. Woodsy Maternity Session.

It seems like in addition to this being wedding season, it’s also baby season! I know so many couples right now that are pregnant or just had a baby. It’s so exciting!

Jessica and I went to school together and sometimes second shoot for each other (check out her website here!). She’s such a sweet, kind, person and I loved getting to know her better during this session! She and Simon are expecting their first baby in just a few months. I can’t wait to meet little Emeline!

We shot the session at the Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area in Hillsborough, NC. It’s such a gorgeous place!

They were so easy to shoot . . . Jessica makes a great laughing face and Simon makes her laugh a lot!

Isn’t she a gorgeous pregnant mama?

This location fit Jessica and Simon perfectly. They were so relaxed during the shoot!

Simon can’t wait to meet his daughter. He is going to be a good dad, I can tell!

My favorite portrait of Jessica . . .

At the end of our session, we stopped by the house where Simon was born and took a few pictures on the porch he played on as a toddler. I love incorporating sentimental places in sessions! I feel like this will be an extra special photo in the future.

Ashley + Charlie. Tanglewood Wedding.

I met Ashley + Charlie at Jessica and Greg’s wedding last year and we just clicked! Charlie took my business card at that wedding and booked just a few months later. I love meeting new couples that way! By the time this wedding came around, I felt like we were all friends.

The wedding was held at the beautiful Tanglewood Park in Clemmons. Though I’ve shot there multiple times, I’ve never done a wedding under “the tree” so it was nice to see something new. And the whole day was so fun! Both the ceremony and reception had subtle Disney-esque details that played to Ashley and Charlie’s love of all things Disney, and Charlie and the groomsmen were cracking me up all day!

Details . . .

Venue : Tanglewood Park

Bride’s Dress : Maggie Sottero

Hair/Makeup : Tangles Salon & Carla White

Catering : Catered Affairs

DJ : First Call DJ

Cake : Dewey’s Bakery

Getaway Car : Prestige Limo Services

I met Ashley and the girls in the Manor House where they were getting ready . . .

I love these photos of Ashley’s grandma helping her lace up the dress!

I love watching the boys put on each others boutonnieres. There are always some funny moments!

We did a quick first-look after everyone got ready. It’s almost always a good idea to do a first look before the ceremony. Everyone was so much more relaxed afterward and we had more time to shoot the fun stuff :)

The first look definitely eased some nerves! Ashley and Charlie were so much more relaxed afterward.

I love this shot of the bridesmaid’s shoes and bouquets. So cute!

Everyone had some time to relax before the ceremony. I love that Ashley just sat on the floor! She was the total opposite of a high-maintenance bride.

Ceremony time!

I love the look on Ashley’s face here. She was so happy!

Some reception detail . . .

Charlie and Ashley’s first dance was one of the most precious dances I’ve ever seen! It seemed like they didn’t notice anyone or anything but each other.

And they’re off!

Rennen. 1 Year Birthday.

Oh, you are in for a treat today :) Especially if you are anything like me and just love babies! Rennen’s family goes to Daystar Church with Jonathan and I and sometimes I get to watch Rennen in the nursery. He is one of the sweetest, most easygoing, cute little boys I know! I’m sure he has his moments, but anytime I see him he is just in his own little world with this adorably inquisitive look on his face.

We scheduled Rennen’s session on his first birthday last week and it went so well! Great weather, no meltdowns, and a cupcake from Maxie B’s to finish everything off!

This face kills me!!! So stinkin’ cute.

I love the way Rennen’s eyes are catching the light in this photo . . .

Showing off some dance moves . . .

Little bare feet . . .

I love this one. Rennen was fascinated with his shadow!

This little series reminds me of Peter Pan. . .

Rennen wasn’t too happy after his outfit change . . .

He was also a little confused by the cupcake. . .

. . . until he got his first bite!

This was the most calm first-cupcake-eating I’ve ever seen! Rennen just quietly munched on it until the end of the session.

Happy Birthday, Rennen!

Meredith + Bryan. Center City Charlotte Wedding.

I have been looking forward to sharing this wedding ever since I first met with Meredith and Bryan last year. I’ve photographed most of Meredith’s family in different sessions already and was so excited to be working with these super sweet people again! Plus, it’s hard not to be excited about a rooftop wedding in Charlotte with the amazing Urban Sophisticates as the reception band! As usual with a North Carolina summer, the forecast was looking a little scary just a few hours before the wedding but any storms headed our way passed right by! The wedding day was beautiful… full of smiles, jokes, and happy tears. You can just tell Meredith and Bryan were made for each other!

The details . . .

Venue : Holiday Inn – Center City Charlotte

Bride’s dress : Mikado by David’s Bridal
Bridesmaids dresses : David’s Bridal
Florist : Tropical Images
Catering : Café Sienna
DJ : The Urban Sophisticates
Cake : The Wow Factor

Ok, first off, the Center City Holiday Inn is gorgeous! We were all obsessed with these old telephones in every hall.

We arrived at the girls room to find everyone totally happy and relaxed. That’s when you know it’s going to be a good day!

I love finding little details in the getting ready rooms . . . I especially loved catching Meredith’s dad double-checking the dance steps online.

I love Meredith and Bryan’s matching details . . .

Bryan was all smiles . . .

And the ringbearers? Oh my gosh. Precious! This one was so proud of his wallet and the picture of Meredith and Bryan that he carries in it.

I love these two images of Bryan and his dad together . . .

We visited the girls room again before the ceremony. The flowergirls were so excited to get dressed up!

A visit and a kiss from Meredith’s grandpa .  . .

Tropical Images did a fabulous job with the bouquets! They smelled just as good as they look :)

The flowergirls and I swapped knock-knock jokes. I am pretty sure mine weren’t as funny as they thought . . .

Meredith’s parents are so adorable. They squeezed in a dance practice right before the ceremony . . .

I love this sign!

We took the bridal party down to street level for some photos during cocktail hour. We had a perfect sunset to work with!

We grabbed a few shots here before we got kicked out. Apparently no one is allowed to take pictures on this corner of the street! I’m glad we squeezed a few in… it was the only place that could fit this group!

I love my few minutes alone with the bride and groom . . .

I love this totally un-posed moment. Meredith’s gotta make sure her husband looks good!

Such a cute little series . . .

The lobby of the hotel is so fun! I love the bright colors and couches.

Some quick details before the reception starts . . .

I was so happy with the light during the first dance. The buildings in the background look unreal!

Meredith couldn’t stop watching her hubby during the toasts. . .

The Urban Sophisticates were such a great choice for the reception. They kept everyone entertained!

Bryan and Meredith got in the car and scooted right out the other door to grab just a couple more photos before leaving for the night . . .
