This Thanksgiving. Personal.

Can you believe we’re almost in December? I am in shock! It feels like this year has gone by so fast and at the same time has been filled with so many good times, new experiences, and awesome memories. I hope you all were able to spend some time last week enjoying friends and family and being grateful for what this year has brought you.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. I love having such a relaxed day with my closest family where all we plan is to cook all morning, drink coffee, cuddle, watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, share stories, play music, and laugh together. And it all reminds me that I have so SO much to be grateful for… I almost hate to start listing it all because I know the list could go on forever. God has immensely blessed me and my family. We’re all healthy. We’re all close. We get to spend a lot of time together. We have peace and hope for the future. And we’re (really) excited about this new baby boy that will be joining the family sometime in the next couple of months.

Hopefully I’ll be posting just a few more times before our little guy gets here so don’t stop checking back, but one more thing… I’m really thankful for you! Yes, you, reading this blog right now :) I’m so grateful and humbled by the number of people that check in regularly, encourage me, and send sweet notes when they love something I’ve posted. I can’t believe that this is my actual job!

These are a few snapshots from our Thanksgiving at my parents house this year. . .

We can’t go even an hour without some kind of music in the house. . .

We were only missing a few at the table in this photo. . . And those are made-from-scratch mashed potatoes on the right. They don’t look as appetizing in black & white but they were delicious!

We laugh a lot . . .

. . . in fact, we were laughing so hard, there was some crying!

I’d love to hear about your Thanksgiving weekend! Was it your first as a married couple? Anything funny or dramatic happen? We accidentally dried out the turkey a little bit this time around but no big accidents. Leave a comment and tell me about it!

Melissa + Travis. The Sutherland Estate & Gardens. Wake Forest Wedding.

I’m so excited to share Melissa + Travis’ wedding with you all… It was my first wedding at The Sutherland and now I’m hooked! What a beautiful Southern estate! But Travis and Melissa’s wedding was much more than just a pretty place. . . Their ceremony was so heartfelt and intimate. Their families were so obviously happy about the marriage. And Melissa and Travis were just over the moon after the ceremony! It’s always an honor to be part of a wedding that means so much more than pretty details and perfect weather. . .

Venue : The Sutherland. Wake Forest, NC
Bride’s dress : Enzoani from Victorian Rose Bridal
Brides hair & makeup artist : Impressions Hair Salon
Bridesmaids dresses : J.Crew
Florist : The Purple Poppy
Catering : Unforgettable Food Affairs
DJ : DJ Randy Pulley

I love the courtyard that was set up for the ceremony. . . so intimate and gorgeous!

This little guy didn’t get to stay for the wedding but he sure was happy to be there while the guys got ready!

I do love a big bridal party :)

I love how the groomsmen stood back and watched Travis read the letter from his bride. . .

When he was done reading, Travis slipped the letter into his pocket and said ‘I’m going to keep this close to my heart’….

Jonathan and I left the guys for a little while to visit the girls getting ready in the house. . .

I love Melissa’s smile :)

Melissa got a letter too. . .

These girls were so fun!

I love the reaction of both Travis and his dad as Melissa starts down the aisle. . .

One of my favorite parts of the day. . . when I get the bride and groom all to myself!

These two were made for each other. . .

Seriously though, it’s like they belong in a magazine or something!

Jonathan caught this perfect kiss on the dance floor . . .

We’re so happy for you guys!

The Tanner Family. Greensboro NC Family Session.

My sweet friends Meredith + Seth added little baby Gia to their family earlier this year! We finally figured out a good time to do some family portraits with this new unit of three… I’m so glad I got to spend the morning with this little sweetie and her parents!

She was pretty fascinated by the camera. . .

I love little baby smiles :)

Gia finally decided to go in for a closer look. . .

We stepped outside for a few photos of everyone together. . .

Gia is not sure how she feels about the sandwich kiss!

Daddy/daughter times are so precious. . .

Mom and dad still have to steal kisses sometimes. Not everything is about the baby. . .

. . . just kidding, yeah it is :)

Melissa K. The Sutherland Estate & Gardens Bridal Session.

Since Melissa + Travis were married just a couple of weeks ago, I get to give you a little preview of how gorgeous this bride was! We photographed her bridal session at The Sutherland in Wake Forest, NC. An amazing venue, beautiful bride, and overcast fall day made this session a winner in my book :)

Don’t you just love the detail in this dress?

This is definitely one of my favorites. . . classic beauty at it’s finest ;)

I love Melissa’s beautiful dark eyes.

The Sutherland is such a gorgeous southern venue!

Melissa is pretty good at the serious face ;)

We ended the session in the courtyard right as the sun was disappearing. . .

Check back in soon to see this girl get married! ;)

Sarah + Justin. Gardens at Gray Gables Wedding.

| Posted in: weddings

Happy November! Today is the start of my favorite month! I don’t know why it’s always been my favorite. . . It may have something to do with the fact that it includes my birthday (tomorrow!) and my very favorite holiday – Thanksgiving! I’m generally not a fan of being cold but I love the sweaters, boots, hot tea, candles, and beautiful leaves that all come along with the season change. Plus, the fall season usually hosts some of my favorite weddings, including this one, of course! Sarah + Justin are such a sweet couple. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a bride as adorably nervous as Sarah when she arrived at the Gardens before the ceremony! And after they were pronounced man + wife, they hardly left each other’s sides the rest of the night… holding hands and stealing kisses throughout the reception.

The details . . .

Venue : The Gardens at Gray Gables. Summerfield, NC

Bride’s dress : Casablanca

Bride’s hair & makeup : Hair- Penny Hensley, Makeup- Carla White

Catering : Joe’s BBQ

DJ : Dean Campbell – Sounds Right DJ

Cake : Doris Tilley

Gray Gables is such a gorgeous venue tucked away in Summerfield, NC. . .

I loved the simple beauty of the invitations. . .

Jonathan photographed the guys in the house while I hung out with the girls in the bridal cabin. (P.S. Have I mentioned that I love when my husband gets to shoot with me? It’s so fun).

The taxidermy on the walls was awesome! Such a perfect guys room.

The girls got ready in the bridal suite on the other side of the property …

Sarah and her mom shared a sweet moment before heading outside to walk the aisle. . .

Don’t you love these full-length bridesmaids dresses?

Jonathan got this shot of Sarah and her dad waiting around the corner. . .

Husband + wife!

See how sweet they are together? Love it.

We found this bird’s nest sitting on the porch swing… I think it made a pretty sweet ring shot, don’t you?

Beautiful fall color was found in all the details. . .

Sarah and her grandma have such a special relationship. I loved watching them interact throughout the day.. it was so precious!

The day ended with a perfect sparkler exit for the Mr. and Mrs. . . .
