Jess + Brian. Starlight Meadow Wedding.

| Posted in: weddings

One of the fun things I get to do occasionally is to work with other local photographers as a second photographer on the dates that I’m not booked. Here are a couple of photos from a recent wedding I photographed with Images by Autumn! Jess + Brian were so sweet and didn’t let the unpredictable weather ruin their day. Their first look in the sprinkling rain was so sweet and the skies cleared for a while during their reception… it was perfect!

Website Launch & Giveaway!

webphoto_001

Yay! It’s here! I’ll tell ya what, website updating always takes way longer than I expect! I’ve spent the last couple of months going through all of my archives to pull photos, editing, tweaking, emailing my web designer countless times, changing little details, tweaking more… It’s exhausting! But so worth it. I’m thrilled with how this has all come together and think it’s a perfect reflection of Alexa’s Photography. There are tons of new photos in the galleries, extra little details, and a more complete meet Alexa page, in case we don’t know each other!

To celebrate the website launch (and that Spring is finally here, praise the Lord!), I’m giving away a portrait session! Just follow the directions below to be eligible to win :)

Erin’s Bridal Session.

This is my beautiful redhead, Erin. We have been best friends since middle school and still are not tired of each other! She married a great man this weekend and I got to stand beside her as a bridesmaid (a rare treat to be on the other side of the camera!). A few weeks ago I got to photograph Erin’s bridal session on a cloudy, romantic spring day on the farm. We had way too much fun and laughed almost the entire session. It took me back to when I photographed her high school senior portraits years ago… before I even owned a professional camera. I love that our friendship has lasted this long. Erin, you’re such a blessing to me! I love that you’ve found such a great man and can’t wait to see where the next few years take you! 01_erin

Kelly + Marc. Chicago Wedding.

| Posted in: weddings

What a fun weekend this turned out to be! Since Kelly + Marc’s wedding was in Chicago, Jonathan and I decided to make a weekend out of it and drove up north on our longest road trip as a family so far. I was a little nervous about the length of the drive but it was so nice to have 13 hours (each way) by ourselves, driving, talking, reading to each other, and just holding hands in silence (while Winnie the Pooh played for Noah on the backseat tv, of course). I love that we can enjoy that much one-on-one time together after four and a half years of marriage. And I know it will just get better and better!

I have a feeling Kelly + Marc are going to be the same way. You can see it in the way they both meticulously got ready for each other the morning of the wedding. The way that Marc smiled ear to ear as he saw his bride walk down the aisle. And Kelly’s excitement before their first kiss. I’m so thrilled for them both and I know their families are too. Their wedding was so centered around family with the ceremony taking place in Bethany Chapel, where Kelly’s parents attended as newlyweds and many of her aunts and uncles were married. Kelly’s brother, who’s currently serving in the military, was able to FaceTime the family the morning of the wedding and at the end of the ceremony, Kelly + Marc went back into the sanctuary and dismissed the guests row by row with hugs. It was so sweet!

Kelly + Marc, I know you had the best time on your honeymoon. I hope Illinois was just a tad warmer when you got home!
