Lindsey + Kevin. Starmount Country Club Wedding.

| Posted in: weddings

Lindsey + Kevin’s wedding day was so special and just emotional. I had to hold back tears multiple times that day as Lindsey and Kevin each had moments of feeling the weight and joy of a wedding day and finally being married! The light and weather were perfect all day long and we made it to the reception venue just in time for some incredible golden light during portraits!

Some of my other favorite things…
– Lindsey and Kevin each gifted each other the same brand of fragrance without knowing it! What a sweet memory to have, and now a scent to go with it!
– All the happy tears
– Family portraits outside! Guys, it makes such a difference in the photos when you do them outside as opposed to at the altar inside a dark church with stained glass. Nothing against the inside of a church or stained glass, but seriously! The natural light just can’t be beat.
– The dance party. SO amazing and had me laughing all night.

Meghan + Josh. Durham Engagement Session.

You know those couples that you see and you’re just like “yeah, those two were meant for each other”? That’s Meghan + Josh. Their personalities are so complementary, they have the same style, and they are both so so sweet! We started their session at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham which is so fun with all the little alleyways, string lights, and industrial buildings mixed with some cute natural areas. As we were walking around we were talking about their upcoming wedding and how we’ll try to shoot on the rooftop of their venue that evening. A man walking his dog nearby overheard the word “rooftop” and invited us up to the rooftop of his apartment building to shoot for a few minutes! It was such a fun and unexpected addition to the session :)  Josh is a golf pro so of course we had to finish up the evening at his course nearby.

Can’t wait for this December wedding!

Wood Family Session. Greensboro, NC.

| Posted in: family

I love doing a family photo session “just because”. No special event. No big life change coming up. Just a sweet, happy family, just as they are at this moment in time. I think it’s important to have your family photographed often. And if you can’t do often, then at least once in a while. I photographed a family once and a while later found out that the little three-year-old was diagnosed with a serious illness soon after our session. Her grandmother cried to me on the phone while thanking me for the photos that she “wouldn’t trade for a million dollars now”.

I say it all the time but it really is such an honor to play this role in the lives of so many families. Whether on a wedding day or a Friday afternoon in the woods, these are the moments that matter.

I’m so glad that Hannah got in touch to photograph her family “just because”. They are so sweet and full of life and love. The pictures of her parents are my favorites!

Josh M. Winston Salem Senior Session.

| Posted in: seniors

Guys. I love photographing weddings, but senior sessions come in a close second. If you think about it, some of the elements are the same with the two stages of life … life is about to change in a big way! For one, it’s the start of life as a unit of two persons as one and for the other, the high school senior, it’s the beginning of breaking off into life as an individual. It’s so exciting!

I got to photograph Josh’s older sister years ago when she graduated high school and now it’s finally Josh’s turn! I love the classic look of Old Salem, NC and the fun and funky downtown Winston Salem combo. Don’t you love his red hair and freckles? He totally killed it!

P. S. Do you know any high school seniors graduating next year? Send them my way!
