The Liggitt Family. Greensboro Family Photographer.

This family is so so special. I actually can’t remember if Brittany and I had met in real life before this session. Her sister (hey, BriAnna!) and I were good friends in high school and I’ve followed Brittany on social media for years as she married William and had two sweet little ones. Her little girl, Ruby Kate, says the funniest things and Jack is just plain CUTE!

Early this year, Brittany and William found out they were expecting another little addition to the family, due just a couple of months after my little boy! But at the same time they discovered they were going to have another girl, the ultrasound showed that she has anencephaly and most likely won’t be with this beautiful family on earth very long before going to be with Jesus. I know it has been a heartbreaking and unimaginably difficult time for the entire family but the way they have walked through the pain, holding on to hope and sharing their faith has been incredibly beautiful. Brittany and William have not shied away from telling their story and the struggle of trusting in a good God while suffering through heartbreak and I’m so honored that I was able to document this family of five. Baby Hazel is so loved and I know her story is already making a difference because of her parents faithfulness and strength.

Psalm 139:13-16 –
Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.

A baby announcement!

I know I haven’t been great at keeping the blog up to date with personal posts but we welcomed our third little boy, Ben, almost three weeks early on July 6th! Thankfully I was able to tie up all the loose ends with current clients right before he was born so the last couple of weeks have been spent settling in, creating a new routine as a family of five (!!!), and cuddling. Lots and lots of cuddling.

Happy due date, little one! I’m so glad you decided to join us so early. (I’m afraid you would’ve been ten pounds if you made it to due date!).

Ben has so. much. hair.

Safe to say that big brothers are completely obsessed with “baby Ben”. Also, sometimes they totally cooperate when I want to take pictures of them. Yay for that!

Anna + Brett. Engagement Session.

I met Anna years ago when I photographed her senior session as she was graduating from high school. It was so fun to reconnect and talk details about her January wedding and how she met her fiance, Brett!

Anna + Brett’s engagement session was the last thing I photographed before welcoming my new baby boy, Benjamin, on July 6th! More on that later. I partially credit my early labor to the hour-long hike that we went on to get to this gorgeous bridge at the end of the session ;) Thanks for a fun evening, you two!

Rachel + Justin. Summerfield Farms Wedding.

What a way to end my Spring/Summer wedding season! (I’ll be taking off some time for my baby’s arrival later this month!) Rachel + Justin are both so sweet and low-key and their Summerfield Farms wedding was full of sunflowers and sunshine and was just. so. fun.

I met up with Rachel and her girls at the bridal cottage where she was watching her pup on the live cam at doggy day care, munching on macarons – a gift from her hubby-to-be, and just generally being relaxed and adorable. At the same time my awesome second photographer, Laura Bradford, was photographing the guys getting ready on the other side of the property. I always love seeing the differences between the guys and girls pre-wedding prep but you wanna know something precious? We had our cameras time-synced and Rachel and Justin were putting on their shoes at the exact same time. I just love that! Other favorite parts of the day were Rachel’s incredible light blush layered gown, the chuppah and toast during the ceremony, the abundance of sunflowers, and the father-daughter dance that took everyone by surprise.

Rachel + Justin, I hope you’re enjoying the last of your honeymoon in Iceland! Thanks for being so great.

Katie + Jim. Heritage Center at Mahaffie in Kansas City.

Happy Monday everyone! I thought this fun Memorial Day weekend wedding would help us get through the beginning of this week :)

I love connecting with all of my couples but this bride is a little extra special to me. My sweet cousin Katie and I spent 15+ years living across from each other and have watched each other through life’s highs and lows and bumpy transitions. I was thrilled when she and Jim found each other and was even more happy that I got to make the trip to Kansas City to document their wedding weekend.

These two are so fun and their wedding day fit them so perfectly! Cocktail hour was full of lawn games, caricature artists, and food truck appetizers and the dance party at the reception could’ve lasted all night. I think the photos tell the story pretty well so I’ll shut up and you can start looking!
